With a theme of Circus – the exec team behind the charity fashion event are putting on quite a show – embracing diversity, colour and individuality. There are around 30 models – all students from within St Mary’s college – chosen in an anonymous ballot for their charisma and personalities. “it’s not about stereotypical ‘fit’ models walking down the catwalk – it’s about acceptance, embracing your individuality and not basing it on looks” explained Co-President Rudra Rhodes.

“It all ties together with the theme of Circus and their chosen charity – Mind – which is the real star of the show. Co-President Jemina Coleman exclaimed in a recent interview with the Palatinate, “the show is embracing every body shape and every kind of person”.

The enterprising Exec have been working hard to raise as much as possible for their charity Mind – all clothes for the catwalk have been donated from an eclectic range of fashion retailers from ASOS  and Topshop to Hannah Beth Fincham,  and Rokit and will go on to be raffled at the end of the evening with other raffle prizes donated by LK Bennett amongst others and table decorations from local businesses. And if that wasn’t enough the Exec have found time to stage a few more fun events in the lead up to the fashion show braving the recent cold weather to sell Doughnuts and a Rugby vs Netball match all to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and raise even more for their charity Mind.

The St Mary’s College Charity Fashion Show takes places at 7pm on 6th March – if you would like to support SMCCFS ’17 in aid of MIND visit their just-giving fundraising page
